Our History:
The members of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Memorial Highway 83 share a passion for honoring living Veterans, as well as those who are putting their lives on the line for our country, and for remembering deceased Veterans. "Welcome Home" Veteran! Traffic does not stop at state lines! This ribbon of highway is helping America Heal! Stretching from Canada to Mexico, Nebraska Highway 83 is the first along this route to be a designated memorial to Veterans of Foreign Wars. The people of Nebraska welcome all travelers. Our Mission is to promote small businesses along the Nebraska Highway 83 Corridor, while honoring Veterans. We have activities and events throughout the year. The NE Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Highway 83 is a non-profit group, run as a mission/ministry.

Nebraska Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Highway 83 signs are at the South Dakota and Kansas borders, and two are at each county line along 83. The signs were dedicated 11/11/2000 by Governor Johanns, and are due to the efforts of the NE VFW County Commissioners of those 6 counties and the NE Dept. of Roads.
The KS Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Highway was dedicated Nov 18, 2002. VFW Nat. Committeeman Dick Weston of Topeka is joined by NE VFW Memorial Highway 83 association members.
